Barcelona Municipal Council for the Environment and Sustainability
recently announced the second annual Acció 21 prizes, aimed at encouraging initiatives for action by civic groups and associations that effectively contribute to reaching the objectives established in the Barcelona Citizen Pact for Sustainability - Agenda 21. A total of 10 awards are made for a maximum value of 5,000 euros each for the best initiatives, one for each objective established in the Citizen Pact. Recognition is given to exemplary, replicable actions under way or carried out over the past year. Actions involving associations, organisations or companies in Barcelona, or even those undertaken at district or ward level, can be submitted for the awards. The deadline for proposals is 30 September 2004.
